When Do the Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms Exhibit Themselves?

A major question that most parents ask themselves is whether their child has Attention Deficit Disorder. In most cases, if a child has Attention Deficit Disorder, the Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms will not be exhibited until a certain age. A baby which is all very quiet and normal behaving could start to show the Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms after the age of 6 or 7.

Of course in retrospect, a child may start to show Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms even during very early stages. In essence, Attention Deficit Disorder deals with imbalance in the neurotransmitters in the brain, so it can come on at any time.

There are several studies to suggest that in boys the Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms would come on bit early due to their natural active outward behavior; where as in girls, the symptoms may come on fairly late. This would make the diagnosis difficult, since the parents would confuse the behavior with natural behavior.  Moreover, some parents will try to not even recognize the symptoms, as they would not think that their child is suffering from these problems.

Hence, it is essential that parents keep an open mind when dealing with mental illnesses, as only then proper care can be provided to the child. A mental health professional will always be able to make a better judgment as compared to a parent, so parents should be open minded and they should trust their doctors.
